We are just as comfortable planning a ‘close-to-basics’ experience featuring basic tented accommodation with meals cooked over an open fire and a beer fished out of a cooler bag, as we are in providing an up-market experience featuring luxury accommodation, fine dining and a vintage wine list.

Leslie Udwin is the owner of Red Sun safaris. He was born and raised in the small South African town of Graaff-Reinet in the Karoo. Growing up in the vast Southern African wilderness imbued him with a deep love for all things pertaining to Southern Africa. This included a love and respect for the various and diverse peoples that inhabit Southern Africa, their unique cultures and how these different cultures bump and bend seamlessly into one magnificent South African identity.
Since his earliest memories of hunting springbok as a 9 year old to his dreams as a ten year old of becoming an animal conservationist, Leslie has always had this love for the wildlife and botany of Africa.
Leslie has been in the travel industry for over 35 years and has accompanied tens of thousands of people on various safaris with glittering success and rave reviews. This is the result of his dedication to introducing people from far away shores to the African homeland they never even suspected was waiting for them with open arms.
